The Sights and sounds of
The Watford Miniature Railway

Not London as such, maybe, but at least within the M25 and at the end of the Metropolitan line. Watford is a town in it's own right.
To me there is not much there. A fairly new but rather ho-hum shopping precinct (with a damn expensive car park) has torn the heart out of the centre, otherwise mainly Victorian and decaying like so many other towns.
The one saving grace seems to be Cassiobury Park. Within this large park there are paddling pools, the Grand Union Canal and Watford Miniature Railway.
This Railway is run by Geoff Price and I have been associated with it since steam was introduced, more years back than I care to remember. Yes, a bit of an oddity, started on motor (still has) and gone to steam. Well worth the trip out of town, especially if there are kids in tow. Even though, thinking about it, when I did a bit of driving there in the early years, it seemed to strongly attract the young Ladies, had more of them on the back than ever young Gents.
