These buses are now illegal to build because of the open rear platform
That's
why they have been rebuilt time and time again, because it is so handy in town and speeds the bus up quite considerably with passengers jumping on and off quickly.
One of the advantages of the Routemaster is that it has to have a bus conductor - otherwise known as a 'clippie'
